Louis Vuitton Cruise 2009 Ad Campaign

Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2008-09 (Pre-Spring) Ad Campaign was shot by Patrick Demarchelier at the sunny and summery Lake Como in Italy, starring Catherine McNeil and featuring Vuitton's Cruise 2009 collection. The campaign exudes the warmth of summer amidst the cold winter season which really makes you think of having a vacation somewhere... maybe at the French Riviera, Costa Smeralda or Costiera Amalfitana. The Monogram Vernis line of city bags, clutches and luggage are inspired by the spirit of Louis Vuitton's ready-to-wear collections because in 1998, the creation of the Monogram Vernis line came along with the appointment of Marc Jacobs as the Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton.

Monogram Vernis is a vivacious, sparkling, ultra-feminine fashion line. It's made from Patent calfskin leather in a range of unusual, subtle colors that highlight the famous Monogram canvas pattern. Special tanning techniques are applied to the leather to achieve it's glossy and sophisticated look and making it resistant to abrasion and scratches. Here are the recommended care instructions so that you can enjoy your patent leather bag or accessory for many years.

Tip #1:
The Monogram Vernis is very delicate. Color transfer is a known issue with this type of leather so avoid prolonged contact with any materials that may transfer their color pigments onto the patent leather such as magazines and other types of leathers.

Tip #2:
If your Vernis bag or accessory is not in use, you may store it n the felt pouch or dust bag provided with your purchase to protect it from dust, insects and other harmful elements.

Tip #3:
You should keep your bag or accessory dry at all times and protect it from direct sources of heat such as radiators, microwave oven, inside of cars in summer, etc.

Tip #4:
Avoid direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight, the color of your patent leather piece may fade.

Tip #5:
Keep your Monogram Vernis bag or accessory away from grease and make-up because the patent leather will absorb it that would cause damage.

Tip #6:
Some small dark grains can be found under the varnish due to the manufacturing process. There's no need to worry 'coz this does not affect the quality of the product.

Tip #7:
To clean your bag, wipe it with a soft and dry cloth.

2009 LV TRIBUTE COLEECTION



For 2009, Marc Jacobs is celebrating the work of Stephen Sprouse by creating a new collection inspired by their original collaboration. The 2009 Stephen Sprouse Tribute Collection consists of the Graffiti and Rose prints recreated into glowing neon colors, giving it a new twist.

“I tried to take what Stephen had done at Vuitton and then kind of flip it in my head, and make it Vuitton’s work for Stephen, not Stephen’s work for Vuitton,” Marc Jacobs said. “I just felt it was a funny way to play with it, to pretend to be Sprouse for a bit, and use the work that he did, and then bring it back to the work that he did before I collaborated with him.

It almost becomes a classic, like a Chanel jacket, or a smoking,” he said. “It’s this idea of a head-to-toe look in this brash, neon, rock ’n’ roll, edgy, street-informed style. Sprouse really best personified it.”

The 2009 Stephen Sprouse Tribute Collection will be available in Louis Vuitton next year, January 2009. It coincides with a retrospective — called “Rock on Mars” — at Deitch Projects’ 18 Wooster Street gallery from Jan. 8 to Feb. 28, and “The Stephen Sprouse Book,” by Roger Padilha and Mauricio Padilha, due out from Rizzoli New York on Feb. 1.

LOUIS VUITTON PRE-FALL 2009 CoLLECTONS



Louis Vuitton has just released the photos of their 2009 Pre-Fall collection that was inspired by a book about wartime fashions. WWD reports that Marc Jacobs kept a retro mood for the collection and played with a muted palette with shots of orange and fuchsia, skirts paired with blouises and cardigans, platforms and socks, and a little black crepe dress with sculpted radzimir sleeves and lace panels. Costume jewelry also underscores the Forties feel, with a lily-of-the-valley brooch and a wooden chain necklace.

And here's what Laird Borrelli-Persson from Style.com has to say. "Worlds (and decades) divide the blooming neon exuberance of Louis Vuitton's Stephen Sprouse tribute collection and the house's soberly chic pre-fall lineup, which, said women's studio director Peter Copping, was inspired by a book on Paris during World War II. Pretty print day dresses and bustier-topped party looks were shown on models who wore their hair in Veronica Lake waves, accessorized with brooches made of wood, papier-mâché, and pearls, and sported beaded socks that alluded to 1940's hosiery shortages. A sporty drawstring-waist topper and a sexy pair of skinny jersey ski pants added a modern element to the retro mood."

DUN think that this is budgeted ad campaign from Louis Vuitton either. But with Madonna as the model, it just won't work for me..
